3-Year-Old Swallowed by Manure Pile
Rescue efforts to save a 3 year-old Pennsylvania boy were hampered the thickness of the manure according to Honey Brook Fire County Deputy Chief Jake Bailey. The boy plunged into a 10-foot manure pit that was described by Baily as “kind of like quicksand. The more you move, the more you sink.” Two rescuers with rope harnesses, were sent down the pit and removed him from the manure and decontaminated him. The boy was awake and crying when he was removed from the pit. Don’t try this at home!
Co-Pilot Sucked Out of Cockpit Window at 32,000 Feet
Pilot Liu Chuanjian is being hailed a hero after braving intense cold and blasting wind in the cockpit of his Sichuan Airlines Airbus A319 after the cockpit window shattered at an altitude of 32,000 feet. Chuanjian coaxed the plane into a safe landing in southwest China after slowing the plane from its original speed of about 560 mph to land in about 20 minutes. All 128 people on board survived. The co-pilot was sucked halfway out the window but was held by his seatbelt. The cause of the incident is still under investigation, he added.
