In this month’s Chauffeur Driven Magazine, there was a great article on one of the biggest fraud stings in our industry. Our own President, Jeff Brodsly and the Chosen Payments team were instrumental in foiling an ongoing credit card scam brought about by Charlie Barbero. His “M.O.” was using expired credit cards to stay at high-end hotels and book luxury chauffeured transportation. President Obama has recently set some new rules in motion for small businesses. Small businesses must now comply with EMV requirements to avoid having to pay fines. EMV technology consists of credit cards that have microchip technology inside of them. EMV is an acronym that stands for Europay, MasterCard and Visa. The microchip technology prevents fraud from occurring. As the payment credit card processor to hundreds of limo operators nationwide, we want to inform you of a major fraudulent scam going around the industry that is negatively affecting operators. Scammers are booking trips and giving a credit card for payment, but the credit card declines.
